CDS 2 2023 Notification, Age Limit, Exam Date

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the notification for the Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS) II 2023. The exam will be conducted on September 3, 2023.

Eligibility Criteria

• Nationality: Indian
• Age: 19 to 24 years
• Educational qualification: Graduate or equivalent
• Physical standards: Meet the physical standards prescribed by the UPSC

Age Limit

IMA: Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July, 2000 and not later than 1st July, 2005 only are eligible.

Indian Naval Academy: Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July, 2000 and not later than 1st July, 2005 only are eligible.

Air Force Academy: 20 to 24 years as on 1st July, 2024 i.e. born not earlier than 2nd July, 2000 and not later than 1st July, 2004 (Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable upto 26 yrs. i.e. born not earlier than 2nd July, 1998 and not later than 1st July, 2004 only are eligible.

Officers' Training Academy: (SSC Course for men) Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July, 1999 and not later than 1st July, 2005 only are eligible.

Officers' Training Academy: (SSC Women Non-Technical Course) Unmarried women, issueless widows who have not remarried and issueless divorcees (in possession of divorce documents) who have not remarried are eligible. They should have been born not earlier than 2nd July, 1999 and not later than 1st July, 2005.

Vacancy

Combined Defence Services (CDS) II 2023 exam will have a total of 349 vacancies. The vacancies are distributed as follows: 

Training Institute-wise vacancy:

Indian Military Academy, Dehradun: 100 

Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala: 32 

Air Force Academy, Hyderabad: 32 

Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai (Madras): 169 

Officers Training Academy, Chennai (Madras) 16

Educational Qualification:

I.M.A. and Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai: Degree of a recognised University or equivalent.

Indian Naval Academy: Degree in Engineering from a recognised University/Institution.

Air Force Academy: Degree of a recognised University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.

• English
• Elementary Mathematics
• Indian History
• Indian Polity and Economy
• Geography
• Defence Studies

Exam Pattern

• The CDS II 2023 exam will be a written exam of 2 hours duration.
• The exam will be conducted in two parts:
• Part I: General Knowledge, English, and Elementary Mathematics (200 marks)
• Part II: Indian History, Indian Polity and Economy, Geography, and Defence Studies (200 marks)
• The marks for the CDS II 2023 exam will be as follows:
• Part I: 100 marks
• Part II: 100 marks
• The total marks for the CDS II 2023 exam will be 200 marks.
