⦿ APSC Forest Ranger Eligibility

Vacancy : 50

Age Limit : Candidate must not be less than 21 years and not more than 38 years as of 01/1/2021 to apply for the APSC Forest Ranger post.
Age Relaxation - 
SC/ST(P)/ST(H) candidates of Assam - 5 years [i.e. upto 43 years. ]
 OBC/MOBC candidates of Assam - 3 years [i.e. upto 41 years. ]

Education Qualification : To apply for APSC Forest Ranger in Assam candidate must have Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Science or Engineering of any recognized University with at least one of the following subjects:-
i. Agriculture
ii. Botany
iii. Chemistry
iv. Computer Applications/ Computer Science
v. Engineering (Agriculture/ Chemical/ Civil/ Computer/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Mechanical)
vi. Environmental Science
vii. Forestry
viii. Geology
ix. Horticulture
x. Mathematics
xi. Physics
xii. Statistics
xiii. Veterinary Science
xiv. Zoology

Salary : Pay scale + Grade Pay + Other allowances as admissible to the Assam State Government employees from time to time (per month).
Pay scale : Rs. 22,000/- to 97,000/-
Grade Pay :  Rs.10,300/-
Pay band :  P.B. -3

Minimum standards for height and chest girth -

Height (cm) - 
Male candidate: 163
Female candidate: 150

Chest girth (cm)
Male candidate: 79 (Normal) 05 (Expansion)
Female candidate: 74 (Normal) 05 (Expansion)

The following minimum height standard will be allowed in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribes and races who are residing in Assam such as Assamese, Bhutanese, Garhwalis, Gorkhas, Kumaonis, Ladakhese, Mizo, Naga, Nepalese, Sikkimese and those from Arunachal Pradesh, Lahaul & Spiti, Meghalaya:  Male candidate: 152 cm Female candidate: 145 cm

Selection Process

The selection of candidates for recruitment to the post of APSC Forest Ranger will consist of the following -
  1. Written Examination: 600 Marks(4 Papers)
  2. Walking Test covering a distance of 25 km for Male Candidates and 16 km for Female Candidates within 4 (four) hours on foot followed by a medical examination by the Medical Board
  3. Interview: 75 Marks

xiii. Veterinary Science
xiv. Zoology
 (The standard of these subjects shall be that of a Bachelor’s Degree) 

Note: No candidate shall be allowed to take more than one subject from the following groups:
i. Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering & Veterinary Science.
ii. Chemistry & Chemical Engineering.
iii. Computer Applications/ Computer Science & Computer Engineering.
iv. Electrical Engineering & Electronics Engineering.
v. Mathematics & Statistics.
